The Big 4 Transparency Accounting Awards šŸ†

They're so back. The best and the worst firms by hours and job satisfaction.

The Big 4 Transparency Awards are Back!

Last year we got into the spirit of awards season by celebrating the best ranked firms based on the data collected on Big 4 Transparency. Once I published it, I had people asking meā€¦ who are the worst though? And so this year weā€™re going in, presenting you The Best and The Rest.

If you get value out of Big 4 Transparency, we only have one simple ask. Itā€™s that you go in there and anonymously share your salary as well. It matters more than you think, because the next person in your position, in your city or at your firm will have access to better information on how much they should be paid. And in honour of busy season, weā€™re putting a fun spin on things!

Once you submit your salary on Big4Transparency.com, youā€™ll be redirected to a form where you can enter an email and be included in a weekly draw through the end of April for a $100 pizza party (or equivalent cash value).

And now, without further adoā€¦ šŸ„

Okay so letā€™s talk trends here. The 3 firms with the lowest overall job satisfaction are all PE backed or public firms. In a previous newsletter, we talked about how not all PE deals had a significant negative impact on employee satisfaction and hours, and some firms are holding up. Aprio for example maintained employee satisfaction higher than most firms, at 7.08, and Grant Thornton did alright as well at 6.93, but this is definitely a sign that not all PE backed firms are created equal when it comes to the employee experience.

Next, itā€™s interesting to see Citrin Cooperman having the lowest self-reported hours as well as the lowest job satisfaction. It would be interesting to hear from folks to what is contributing so much to the negative sentiment despite overall pretty solid hours being reported here.

Are you a decision maker at a firm, or are you close to one? Iā€™d love to have a conversation about how Big 4 Transparency can help with your firmā€™s salary setting process! Weā€™ve got a For Firms page on the website detailing what we offer, and Iā€™d be happy to take 30 minutes to chat and to show you how we can help with your firmā€™s specific needs.
