Need For Speed: Successful Recruitment
Time kills deals... and job prospects

The not-so secret sauce to recruitment
Over the last few weeks, the Big 4 Transparency Talent Pool has been incredibly busy, so I’ve been working a lot on recruitment in May, and my top takeaway could not be any clearer for both candidates and recruiters. A lack of urgency in the hiring process is absolutely killing your success rate.

We’re talking about getting talent through the door in this edition of the newsletter, but that’s only half the battle, you need to be equipping the talent at your firm with the right tools to be successful.
Canopy is the practice management solution for making sure the folks at your firm can be on top of their game and focused on what they do best rather than being buried in administrative tasks. Unclunk your firm - check out Canopy.
This advice applies to both candidates and firms looking to be successful in recruitment, and it seems obvious at the surface but very often people are not following through with timely responses throughout the recruitment process, and it’s absolutely killing the rate at which interviews are happening. Big 4 Transparency being all about the data, I wanted to show how timely responses translate into candidate interviews, because I’ve seen a very significant drop-off in successful interviews based on how long it takes either the candidate or the firm to commit to an initial interview.

The delays can be based on many things, sometimes it’s a vacation from the key decision maker on a hire, sometimes it’s wanting to have too many eyes on the resume or references, and sometimes it’s just the candidate being slow to respond, but no matter what the reason is, just know that for every single day an introduction sits, the likelihood of making it to the interview stage diminishes significantly.
Ahead of one of my favourite conference, Bridging the Gap in Denver, I’m helping out with a survey to assess trends around job satisfaction in the accounting industry.
Anyone who participates in the survey will receive a cope of the results ahead of the general release. We’re diving deep into what drives job satisfaction but we need your help. If you’ve got a few minutes to fill out this survey, it would be greatly appreciated and you might help drive trends for firms looking to create better work environments.
