2024 Big 4 Transparency Update
If you haven’t heard from me for a while, I promise it’s not because I have been slacking. There are lots of new developments for 2024 and I want to share them with you all!
In this newsletter, I’ll be touching on 3 new developments:
The Big 4 Transparency Podcast is here!
We are launching a referral program for the newsletter

The podcast
I love this newsletter - I intend to increase the number of newsletters sent in 2024 and for them to be very focused on actionable insights for readers. I am also a huge fan of podcasts, so I’m incredibly excited to share the launch of The Big 4 Transparency Podcast!
In each episode, I interview firm leaders, heads of HR, or accounting managers at highly desirable companies to give you a deeper look at the accounting industry and all it has to offer. These conversations will pull back the curtain on discussions being had by senior leadership, how firms are run and much more. I have always believed that when entering the world of accounting, there is not enough clarity on all of the career possibilities that lie ahead and this is my attempt to create a place where we can all learn.
I’ve had tons of fun creating this podcast so far and have met some really great people in the process. There are 3 episodes currently live, and I intend to release new episodes weekly. I’d love feedback from anyone who gives it a listen as I am new to the podcast game.
The referral program
The best way for Big 4 Transparency to grow is through word of mouth. The more people using the website, the better the resource becomes for everyone using it. Same with the newsletter, the more people we have, the better the guests I can have on, and the more time I can spend writing these.
But we’re accountants - we know that our opinions and networks are worth something. So I’m introducing a referral program! Currently there are 2 tiers, one where you can win a $20 Starbucks gift card for sharing the word with 25 new subscribers, and another tier which will win you a sweet gold calculator watch. The watch is for referring 100 new readers, and / or for whoever gets the most referrals by April 30th! If you happen to not like the watch, I can also send you the cash value of it, but I think it’s pretty on-brand and may even get myself one now.
Working with firms
Big 4 Transparency’s mission is to bring salary transparency to the accounting industry. This involves offering solutions to firms who are looking to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to compensation or to get clarity on what compensation levels should look like for employees in their city.
We’re currently working with a number of firms, large and small to help them with this and are really happy with what we can offer them in terms of support with this process. The tricky part is that it’s really hard to get in touch with the right people to establish these relationships.
That’s why there is now a section on the website to refer a firm. If you are able to open a conversation with the key decision maker at a firm who ends up working with Big 4 Transparency, we will pay you 15% of the first year contract if we were not already in conversation with that firm or decision maker.
One last thing: when I was an analyst at the Big 4 firms, one busy season I handled most of the meal ordering for the team. And I racked up A TON of credit card points for doing so. I’m talking enough to book a vacation completely paid in points after the end of busy season. So when I saw this sponsor, I thought it might be a good fit for anyone looking to maximize their credit card rewards this busy season:
